FCJ was formed in 2007 and is located in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde. The organization promotes participatory democracy, encouraging young people to construct their identity and citizenship in spaces of non-formal learning, solidarity and shared responsibility.
Project description:
The “Youth Promoters of Cross-Cultural Understanding” project aims to mobilize youth leaders to promote democratic citizenship and the value of peace through a national advocacy campaign and an international declaration campaign. Through this project, FCJ aims to change the mindset of Cape Verdean youth, who are not largely engaged with issues surrounding peace and democratic citizenship.
Expected results:
By the end of this project, FCJ aims to:
- Mobilize and train 75 youth leaders through workshops on the themes of Democratic Citizenship and Culture of Peace, develop five plans on these themes to be implemented by youth;
- Launch a national advocacy campaign on intercultural dialogue, including a series of meetings with stakeholders;
- Develop and launch a youth contest on intercultural dialogue, and monitor the implementation of five winning proposals; and
- Develop a Declaration on Democratic Citizenship and the Culture of Peace and take part in international events to ensure the priorities of African youth are taken into the global agenda.
