Name of organization:
Cerebra, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Description of organization:
Cerebra is a youth-led organization that works on the empowerment of youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by equipping them with modern knowledge, transferable skills and attitudes required for success.
Project description:
Youth Can Do (BunlQa) was a project that aspired to create space for intercultural dialogue and long-term cooperation between the ethnic groups of the country. The project addressed two concrete challenges that the youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina was facing: Firstly, the limited number of programs of any kind that connected the youth with different regions, ethnic, religious and national backgrounds of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Secondly, the lack of awareness of the importance of non-formal education as a supplement to formal education. By arranging various training programs, seminars and workshops for the youth, Cerebra created a favorable and peaceful environment for cooperation beyond religious and cultural boundaries. A regional NGO from Serbia organized a study visit for a group of students from the USA, and the BunIQa initiative was one of their main interests. Participants increased their skills and self-confidence, and developed creative and critical thinking, cooperation skills, and knowledge. BunIQa is now a network of multi-ethnic activists from 11 cities from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
