Name of organization:
Development No Borders (DNB)
Description of organization:
DNB promotes social, cultural and voluntary activities as non-formal educational methods for youth development. The organization was established in 2003 in Cairo, and works across Egypt.
Project description/context:
DNB notes that Egypt is undergoing a period of change and reform following the Arab Spring, including increasing tensions between the Muslim population and the minority of Coptic Christians. Therefore, the aim of the “Egypt Online!” project is to increase dialogue between Muslim and Christian youth. This will be done through transferring skills, knowledge, attitudes and best practices to young people in Egypt, by using innovative online tools and internet technologies to promote interreligious dialogue and the freedom to religion.
Expected results:
By the end of the project, DNB expects to:
- Identify a committee of eight youth leaders who will be trained on peace and conflict management, communication, media and online marketing;
- Obtain buy-in from the local community through events such as a youth camp for 25 young leaders identified through a selection process, conferences in Cairo and Alexandria, an online campaign and a poster/video contest;
- Form partnerships with ten youth organizations for the online platform; and
- Reach an audience of 11,000 members through the platform itself.
