Eleven Intercultural Innovation Award winners and alumni have participated in a capacity-building training in Delhi, India from 16 – 18 October 2013. Organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the BMW Group, the main objective of the workshop was to take stock of the achievements made by winner organizations since they received their award in February 2013 and to encourage exchange among themselves through practical exercises: presentations and analysis of cases studies in the fields of scaling-up, finance, human resources, marketing, public relations, social media and fundraising.
The workshop started with a welcome address by Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India who stressed the importance for the Group of engaging its employees in sessions like the one held in Delhi. Indeed, the workshop started on an exciting note with highly interactive sessions between the awardees and BMW associates. The awardees presented their work in ‘Marketplace’ session and associates from BMW India and BMW India Financial Services provided constructive feedback and suggestions to them. The interactive session led to exchange of ideas and mutual learning between the awardees and the associates.
The three day workshop included expert sessions by professionals to help the awardees in learning and acquiring skills related to social entrepreneurship, scalability, social media and business planning. The awardees also got an opportunity to visit project sites of Chintan, an Indian NGO working for migrants and waste management solutions.
This workshop is part of the one-year active support that Intercultural Innovation Award winners receive. In addition to a cash prize, awardees draw on one-year consulting support from the UNAOC and the BMW Group and participate in a series of workshops. Workshops are conducted periodically to help the awardees become more efficient and to scale-up, as well as to enable transfer to other contexts.
