New York, 25 May 2013
On 31 May, 2013, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) fellows will participate in the first Alumni Meeting of the Fellowship Programme. This meeting will bring together previous participants in the Fellowship Programme in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The Fellowship Programme annually convenes emerging leaders from the Muslim World and the West, and provides them with travel opportunities in each other’s regions. US and European fellows travel to three countries in the Arab World. Arab fellows travel to three European countries and the United States. The goal is to enhance mutual understanding and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration.
Held on the occasion of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, this will be the first Alumni Meeting after four editions of the Fellowship Programme. These meetings are expected to strength cooperation between the alumni and contribute to the creation of sustainable relationships between these emerging leaders.
60 alumni from Europe, North America and the Arab and Muslim world will meet to share their experiences of the programme, create partnerships aimed at taking collaborative actions. To learn more about the program’s previous achievements, click here.

About the UNAOC
The UN Alliance of Civilizations was established in 2005 as an initiative of the UN Secretary General, under the co sponsorship of the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Turkey. It emerged out of a conviction that, in order to achieve sustainable peace, long-standing divisions and misperceptions between cultures need to be addressed.
