the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)
on the occasion of
the International Day of Living Together in Peace
New York – 16 May 2022
On the occasion of the International Day of Living Together in Peace, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) celebrates diversity, understanding, solidarity and living together in peace based on mutual respect – all humanistic principles that are deeply ingrained in UNAOC’s mission and vision.
The United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/72/130, which proclaimed 16 May as the International Day of Living Together in Peace, recognized UNAOC’s work on intercultural dialogue, as well as its contribution to promoting a culture of peace and non-violence especially targeting youth.
Today, more than ever, UNAOC – through its policy advocacy and cross-cutting programming activities – continues to foster unity in diversity, and combat all forms of discrimination based on religion or belief, race or ethnicity to achieve sustainable peace as #OneHumanity.
To mark the International of Living Together in Peace, UNAOC is proud to partner with other international organizations and key stakeholders in the premiere of the film ‘All of Us’ by Pierre Pirard, which will be released globally today.
The film is a poignant take on the importance of bridging tensions and achieving social cohesion. Now more than ever, against a backdrop of political uncertainty across the globe, it is important to highlight positive narratives to combat the forces of hatred and division. Through compelling storytelling and by leveraging the power of film, the makers of ‘All of Us’ aim to foster cultural and religious harmony.
UNAOC supports the film in its commitment to promoting a culture of peace, understanding, inclusion, and solidarity. To view ‘All of Us’ online, click here: https://youtu.be/Q6fH0lfXxKw
