The Alliance was hosted by the United Religions Initiative in North America and the URI Cooperation Circle at the United Nations from 4-8 pm on Saturday, April 30th at the Roerich Museum on 107th Street near Riverside Drive.
Inspired by the great Russian visionary artist and his quest for peace, Nicholas Roerich, the UN portion of the program touched on the URI’s commitment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Day of Peace, World Interfaith Harmony Week, plus ongoing UN agenda items such as the environment, the empowerment of women, disarmament, and more.
Ambassador Anwarul Chowdhury, former UN USG, was honored by the URI for his work on a Culture of Peace. Thomas Uthup, Research and Education Manager, gave a short presentation about the Alliance at the event.
