On 21-22 October, the Alliance of Civilizations is co-sponsoring a conference in Copenhagen on Education for Intercultural Understanding and Dialogue.
The Conference will be opened by the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Per Stig Møller and will feature speeches by the High Representative of the Alliance of Civilizations, President Jorge Sampaio, the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Mr Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and the President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Mr André Azoulay.
Over two days, the Conference will allow practitioners and experts to explore how learning about other cultures can be integrated in learning materials and school curricula; it will identify ways of expanding student exchange and scholarship programs; and it will showcase best practices in teaching about religions and beliefs. The Copenhagen Conference is a follow-up to the ‘Conference on Fostering Dialogue among Cultures and Civilizations through Concrete and Sustained Action’ in Rabat 14-16 June 2005.
In addition to the Alliance of Civilizations, this event is being co-sponsored by UNESCO, ISESCO, OIC, ALECSO, the Council of Europe, and Anna Lindh Foundation.
