Statement Attributable to the Spokesperson for the
High-Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations
On the Death of Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali,
Former Secretary General of the United Nations

The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser is profoundly saddened for the passing away of Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the former Secretary General of the United Nations.
An Egyptian statesman, Mr. Boutros-Ghali who was the first Arab to serve as UN Chief, made his mark in politics as an architect of the historical Camp David accords, then he became the 6th Secretary General of the United Nations at a time of increasing influence of the world body following the Gulf war. Mr. Al-Nasser stressed that the late Mr. Boutros-Ghali will always be remembered for his valuable services and continuous endeavors to achieve world peace. Noting that his “Agenda of Peace” continues to be a lasting legacy.
The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations extends his condolences and deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Boutros-Ghali, and to the Government and people of Egypt.
