PLURAL+, the youth video festival focusing on the themes of migration, diversity and social inclusion, a joint initiative of the UNAOC and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), was invited to be part of the 2015 Hamptons International Film Festival.
Two programs, one a selection of seventeen award-winning videos (for Middle Schoolers) and the second one a selection of nine award-winning (for High Schoolers), both selections from last year’s edition of PLURAL+ videos were presented to at the prestigious festival as part of their educational outreach. Over two hundred students from the area attended the screening at the beautiful Guild Hall Theater of East Hampton, New York.
The screening was followed by a lively discussion where UNAOC, IOM and PLURAL+ award-winning media makers engaged with the audience addressing topics such as gender representation in the media, the need to support youth-produced media, and the importance of including Media Literacy Education in the school.
PLURAL+ 2015 Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 3 December at the Paley Center for Media in New York, for more information, please visit http://pluralplus.unaoc.org/
