Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has issued a message for the World Interfaith Harmony Week. In the message, the Secretary-General emphasized respect for diversity and peaceful dialogue as key “to face shared threats and seize common opportunities.” He also cited the role of the UN Alliance of Civilizations and other United Nations work to build trust and respect among communities and individuals.
The Secretary-General also said that the Week was an opportunity to focus global attention on the role of religious leaders, interfaith movements and individuals around the world in promoting respect and understanding and supporting United Nations efforts for peace.
