The UNAOC was once again invited to participate at BaKaFORUM, an annual meeting point and platform for exchange and cooperation for TV broadcasters, independent cross-media producers; as well as cultural, educational and societal organizations interested in quality TV programming, new media educational initiatives, and development of inter-cultural education.
The conference includes panel discussions, individual presentations, a contest, screenings and workshops. This year the event took place in Basel, Switzerland, 27-29 January. At the Forum, Jordi Torrent, Project Manager, Media Literacy initiatives, presented UNAOC’s new developments in the fields of media education and youth-produced media.
PLURAL + 2010 BaKaFORUM Award, the video “Not a Boundry“ by Malaysian youth mediamaker Hinzges Tan, was screened at the opening ceremony. Ms. Tan attended BaKaFORUM, invited by the organizers, and explained to the participants the creation process of her video and the need for further supporting youth media makers in their effort to create their own media representation and points of view regarding current cultural tensions around the world.
