Remarks by Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the High Representative for UNAOC
at the ‘Prayer for Peace’ moment, United Nations Headquarters, New York
Mr. Secretary-General,
Distinguished religious leaders and honorable guests,
It is difficult to speak after listening to all the inspiring words from the previous speakers.
I have one thing to say, though.
Nothing makes me happier than this beautiful moment of harmony, especially during these difficult times that are challenging all of humanity.
I wish to echo the words of the Secretary General last November as he addressed the 9th UNAOC Global Forum in Fez last November, he said:
“The ‘what’ is not the challenge. The ‘how’ is.
And today is a live demonstration of the ‘how’…
How to mobilize action and act in solidarity…
How to show compassion and mutual respect…”
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations is committed to supporting your efforts in building bridges of understanding, not walls of hatred and division, by providing a global safe space for meaningful dialogue…so that we can all live together in peaceful, cohesive, and inclusive societies as One Humanity.
Wishing you all a blessed and peaceful holy days.
