Media Advisory: A Discussion on the Nexus Between Faith and Diplomacy
Religions for Peace and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Hosts a Consultation on Multi-Religious and Diplomatic Efforts Towards Building Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies
WHAT:
Religions for Peace (RfP) – the oldest and largest platform of religious institutions and faith communities, with affiliated Interreligious Councils in over 90 countries on every continent and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) – the leading United Nations platform for intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation – are hosting a discussion on the nexus between faith and diplomacy, in 2022 and beyond.
WHY:
Religions for Peace and United Nations Alliance of Civilizations are working together with religious leaders, women of faith, diverse youth leaders and diplomats to help strengthen the link between faith and diplomacy in issues related to peace and security, as well as to humanitarian, developmental and environmental challenges. With the aim of building and strengthening discourse, social cohesion and mutual understanding in societies around the world, there will be a focus on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 16 through policy recommendations, best practices and lessons learned.
