The High Representative meets with His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdelaziz,
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdelaziz Al Seoud received in Jeddah the High-Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos who is in an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Majesty, King Salman bin Abdelaziz expressed his support to the role and work of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in promoting dialogue and understanding among people and in combating extremist ideologies. His Majesty reiterated that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia promotes moderation and stands against those who seek to exploit religion to promote extremist ideologies.
On his part, the High Representative affirmed that UNAOC is committed to continue strengthening interreligious dialogue and promoting tolerance and respect among faiths and working with King Abdullah International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID). He re-iterated that interreligious and Intercultural dialogue are essential soft power tools for the prevention of extremist ideologies and the promotion of a peaceful and harmonious world.
After the meeting with His Majesty King Salman bin Abdelaziz, the High Representative met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Ibrahim El Assaf.
Earlier in Riyadh, Mr. Moratinos met with the Minister of Education, H.E. Dr. Hamad Al Shaikh as well as officials from the Ministry of Culture. The High Representative visited the Global Center for Combatting Extremist Ideology. He also met members of the National Committee for monitoring King Abdullah Initiative for Interreligious Dialogue and King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue.
