Thursday, 15 March 2018, New York — Heads of Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) Entities and those with Observer Status, among them the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, participated in a brief signing ceremony of “the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact” in the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The “Global Compact” is an agreed framework between the Secretary General and the 38 Heads of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force. It aims to strengthen a common action approach to coordination and coherence in the counter terrorism and prevention of violent extremism work of the UN System. Commitments to action-oriented, evidence-based and close cooperation were made. A review of its implementation will take place every two years.
