On the terrorist bombing of two Orthodox churches in Egypt
New York, April 9, 2017
The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), strongly condemns in the strongest terms the barbaric and cowardly terrorist bombing of a Coptic Orthodox church in the Nile Delta City of Tanta and on St. Mark’s church in Alexandria.
The heinous attacks which took place during Palm Sunday celebrations when both churches were packed with worshipers aim at ruining the unity and diversity that characterize the Egyptian society.
UNAOC promotes peaceful dialogue among all religious denominations upholding diversity and tolerance as core values in its work.
On behalf of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the High Representative expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims’ families and to the people and the Government of Egypt. He wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.
