In this innovative 4 year study, researchers from the University of Essex (UK) set out to investigate the impact of living abroad. In collaboration with AFS, the researchers examined the experiences of intercultural exchange students.
A selection of these preliminary findings of the study presented in the Mercator Centre Berlin is highlighted in the overviews attached. This first summary sheds some light on the impact of an exchange year, the coping strategies that students use and the competencies they gain.
Attached is a German and an English overview of the presentation and the fact sheet of the study.
