The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) – funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments – is a joint institution of the Department of History and the Department of Sociology at Bielefeld University (Germany). The Graduate School is a learning community of doctoral researchers and invites applications for 9 doctoral positions with a maximum duration of 3.5 years, starting 1 April 2013.
The school is seeking highly motivated researchers with genuine interest in an academic environment that fosters creativity through interdisciplinary exchange. Successful candidates are expected to conduct research within the doctoral programme, and in the end receive the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in history or sociology. The graduate school promotes research in the fields of sociology, history, political sciences and social anthropology.
