January 27 is the Deadline for nominating a book for the $10,000 Laura Shannon Prize in European Studies (History & Social Sciences Cycle).
The Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame is calling for nominations for a $10,000 book prize, the Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies. The prize is awarded to “the best book in European studies that transcends a focus on any one country, state, or people to stimulate new ways of thinking about contemporary Europe as a whole.” Books in History and Social Sciences that were published in 2010 and 2011 are eligible. Publishers may nominate up to three (3) books; authors may self-nominate.
The most recent winner was Tara Zahra (University of Chicago) for her book, Kidnapped Souls: National Indifference and the Battle for Children in the Bohemian Lands 1900-1948 (Cornell UP).
