The United Nations High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations has expressed his “deep concern” over the clashes that took place in Cairo and conveyed to the families of the victims his solidarity and sympathy.
Pointing out the united front of Muslims, Copts and other Christians in the Egyptian revolution, President Sampaio said it was unacceptable for religion to be misused by extremist voices. He called on religious leaders to address the roots of tensions across diverse communities and explore the constructive role of religious communities.
