Background
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is an initiative of the UN Secretary General, which seeks to strengthen cultural relations between communities around the world. The Project Secretariat is based in New York, New York and is funded by multiple donors. The initiative runs a number of largely web-based projects, including ‘clearinghouses’ of teaching resources, and an analyst database for use by the international media; it also maintains its primary web presence at www.unaoc.org.
Pursuant to this, the UNAOC seeks a qualified individual to assist the Web and Multimedia Manager with the tasks listed below under Duties and Responsibilities. The successful candidate will meet the requirements laid out below in the Education/Experience/Language section.
It is important that the person recruited has an excellent understanding of the mission and vision of the UNAOC, and is able to respond proactively to the needs of the project. The Web and Multimedia Assistant will report to the Web and Multimedia Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the creative design, technical development, implementation and maintenance of all new and existing UNAOC web platforms.
- Assist in the production of graphics and visual branding materials for print and online use per needs of the UNAOC.
- Assist in the creation, editing and retouching photographs and videos per needs of UNAOC.

- Legal status to work in the United States is mandatory.
Education/Experience/Language
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Arts or Computer Science related field desirable. (Submission of a sample of an art-related work may be requested)
- Up to 1 years of relevant work experience in related fields required.
- Experience in website development and design using HTML, CSS & PHP is essential. (Submission of code writing samples may be requested)
- Experience with programming in WordPress & Joomla or similar CMS is essential.
- Knowledge of Javascript or Jquery is preferred.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign) is essential.
- Experience using video editing software is essential. (Experience with Final Cut Pro is preferred)
- Experience with both still and video photographic capture is preferred.
- Fluency in oral and written English is essential.
