The Lithuanian OSCE Chairmanship and ODIHR will organize a high level meeting entitled ‘Preventing and Responding to Hate Incidents and Crimes against Christians’ in Rome on 12 September 2011. The event will be held at the Centro Alcide De Gasperi, Via Piero della Francesca 3. Civil society members are welcome to participate. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a platform for experts and practitioners to discuss hate-motivated crimes and incidents against Christians in the OSCE. The objectives of the meeting are threefold: it aims at
– raising awareness on the issues of hate-motivated crimes and incidents targeting Christians and their property across the OSCE region;
– sharing good practices and gathering a set of recommendations on how to prevent and respond to hate-motivated crimes and incidents targeting Christians; and
– illustrating and confronting the findings relevant to hate-motivated violence with the specific example of attacks on places of worship.
