After the world premiere in Geneva at the 2011 Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights, the feature film “THEN AND NOW Beyond Borders and Differences” will be screened out of competition at the 2011 Istanbul Film Festival on April 12 and 14 (http://film.iksv.org/en/film/27).
Still from “The Accordion”by Jafar Panahi.
Mr. Panahi has not been able to participate in any of the screenings of Then and Now due to his imprisonment in his home country, Iran.
Inspired by Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (“Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion”), 7 filmmakers from 7 countries (Brazil, Italy, France, Iran, Turkey, USA, and Burkina Faso) explored the themes of tolerance and respect for differences. Then and Now is a project produced by Adelina von Fürstenberg, from ART for The World and realized under the auspices of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the Council of Europe, in collaboration with ARTE (France), SESC Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Dorje Film (Italy). A work in progress of Then and Now was featured as an avant-premiere during the 3rd UNAOC Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, (27-29 May, 2010).
