National and Regional Approaches

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations goals are achieved through actions at various levels, from the grassroots to the international level.

Regional strategies bring together groups of countries with civil society and international organizations to organize activities that further intercultural understanding in the region.

National strategies provide the framework for appropriate and relevant intercultural actions to be undertaken by governments to increase intercultural understanding in the countries.

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations’ implementation plans, drawn up biennially since 2007, provide an outline of planned activities for the next two years.
