On the terrorist attack near the Coptic Christian Cathedral in Egypt
New York – 11 December, 2016
The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack today near Egypt’s main Coptic Christian cathedral during Sunday mass.
The brutal crime, which killed dozens of people and wounded many others is shocking by all means taking place near a church, a sacred place of worship where people of faith seek peace and comfort and share the values of compassion and tolerance. These are the core values that all faiths embrace.
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations seeks to promote tolerance, understanding and respect among all.
On behalf of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, The High Representative extends his deepest sympathies to the victims’ families and expresses his heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Egypt.
